Wonder why Jericho stopped doing the Lion tamer an switched to the Walls of Jericho?
Lion tamer seemed to be more painful then the sitting walls of Jericho.
Doesn't that answer your question? It was too painful. And here it is. True. Jericho stop doing when he went to WWE. The reason he did it a lot in WCW was because of his peers. Mysterio, Guerrero, Benoit, a lot of guys from Mexico, Japan, and Smoky Mountain Wrestling. However, they were all able to with stand the pressure of the walls of Jericho. It wasn't because of the way their body is bent, but putting their knee on someones back of neck that hurts. That is incredibly hard to fake as you resting you knee on someones back, your not using you other leg to relieve pressure, but to support yourself. That saying that you can't fake it. However, his peers a close friend, were able to withstand the hold and were okay with him doing it. For example, when he used it on Daniel Bryan more recently, it wasn't that they were close friends, but that he was a veteran that can withstand pain and gave the okay to Jericho. So when he went to WWE, an place where a majority of his friends didn't join til after, he felt for the sake of the other wrestlers, it might had been best to use a new finisher that would not only be easier on himself, but others as well. IE The Walls of Jericho. Why do the Lion Tamer if chances are, 80% of the roster was not gonna be able to withstand the move? So it seem smart to just use the Wall of Jericho. It suited his gimmick, and was some what like his close friend, Lance Storm, who used a half Boston Crab as his finisher. It was a simple, yet elegant submission move.
P.S. The Walls of Jericho is not just a Boston crab, its an elevated one. Big difference. Basically, Jericho doesn't sit, but stands during the move (similar to Lion Tamer), so that it give him more range of stretching his opponent while moving, and its more effective on guys smaller then Jericho. Plus its resembles Jericho as a wall crushing and bending his opponent in half. Its an intended pun when its called the Walls of Jericho. So the move isn't a joke, and can be a legit finisher. Its like a sleeper hold that not great today, but totally was back then.
